Melancholy

I knew it so. I have avoided the movie The Hours since it was out.

I don't like things that are depressing. Enough of that exists in daily life. This movie is depressing. Nonetheless, I found it terrific, real, and captivating. I'm surprised. I expected to find it overdone, overacted, depressing. It was very good. Not that I would see it again - once is enough. But it puts life and sanity and those days you are feeling edgy in clear perspective. That and just hearing that a friend's spouse may have cancer (testing now).

Definitely gives perspective. Somehow adds balance to one's life.
