Proverbial Thoughts

so i was hanging out at home in a room that i don't spend much time in. i recalled a Japanese proverb that i had written on the mirror for a long time. in verifying it, i ran across these interesting proverbs:

When you fall into a pit, either you get out or die.
- Chinese Proverb

Don't confuse the map with the territory.
- Japanese proverb
A new broom sweeps clean, but the old brush knows all the corners.
- Irish Proverb
Each bird loves to hear himself sing.
- Arapaho Proverb

And the very similar...
Every man likes the smell of his own farts.
- Icelandic proverb

Fool me once, shame on you.
Fool me twice, prepare to die.
- Old Klingon proverb

If you understand, things are just as they are;
if you do not understand, things are just as they are.
- Zen proverb

The original, powerful proverb that was the seed for this entry:

Fall seven times, stand up eight.
- Japanese Proverb

And one for the road:

A woman's appetite is twice that of a man's;
her sexual desire, four times;
her intelligence, eight times.
- Sanskrit proverb
